Impressions: Assassin’s Law and Order
After beating Mass Effect and almost beating it a second time I decided it was probably a good idea that I move on and start a new game. My wife’s friends from work loaned me “The Most Mixed Reviewed Game of the Year” Assassin’s Creed. I said to myself that I would give this game a shot. After the first hour I could see why the game got mixed reviews and I think it was mostly due to the combat mechanics and repetitiveness.
You definitely should not be button smashing with this game because you will find yourself more frustrated and annoyed and wishing you didn’t spend the money on this game. After seeing the main character getting slashed and hacked more than I wanted to, I decided to change my style and that’s where the game got more interesting. Fighting became more fun when I took the time to learn the fighting mechanics so I can pull off some cool combos and watch the nice cut scenes that go with it.
Although I am sad to say that I’m finding myself not wanting to play the game as much as I would like to. The first sign of this is when I was playing the game and felt like I rather watch Law and Order CI at that moment. Now anybody knows that’s not a good indication of a well-made game if you’re thinking of doing other things instead of playing your game. I’m not saying Assassin’s Creed is a bad game. It’s a very pretty game with all of the climbing and viewing over the ancient Middle East Cities, but It’s not peaking my interest I guess. I would find myself asking questions like do I really want to save that citizen, or do I really want to climb that tower so I can get another view of the city? I don’t know. I guess time will tell, but it is taking a lot of time…So which Law and Order episode is this?
