Interview: King Of Fighters XII Producer
1up has a brief interview with Masaaki Kukino, who is the producer of the newly announced King of Fighters XII. The interview focuses on how the game came about and how the new console hardware effected KOF’s development. One of the most interesting questions related to a certain other popular 2D fighter that is set to return at the same time. 1up asked which of the new fighting games announced poses the greatest competition for KOF, and Mr. Kukino said:
“Street Fighter IV. I was impressed. It’s very similar to King of Fighters in that we’re trying to do something new with the franchise.”
It sure does seem like those two franchises decided to resurrect themselves at the same time.
When asked if he had any final words to say, Mr. Kukino said:
“King of Fighters XII is the beginning of a new era of fighting games. We’re trying to make it the best 2D fighting game ever”
Best 2D fighting game ever eh? I dunno, I still think Primal Rage will have you beat. Regardless, it’s a pretty great time to be a fighting game fan.
